Situated at an altitude of 150m, in the picturesque Cerna Valley, 40km from Drobeta - Turnu Severin (residence of the Mehedinti County) one of the greatest health resorts of Romania.
The Romans highly appreciated this resort and call it “Ad Aquas Herculi Sacras” knew and utilized the springs of water of 450C and 550C (slightly radioactive, some sulphurous, others sodic chloride) of exceptional efficaciousness in the treatment of certain diseases.
In the course of time this spa resort was visited by famous personalities: Empress Maria Theresa, Emperor Franz Joseph, and in our days thousands of people coming from Romania and all over the world.
The resort enjoys an almost Mediterranean climate and vegetation being surrounded by very picturesque places.
There are here 15 powerful springs with mineral and thermal waters (380C - 600C), gushing out from the depth of 2,000 m.
Natural factors:
-thermo-mineral chlorosodic, bicarbonate, bromoiodate waters with a total mineralization between 0.6-3.5 g/l, of large use in both external and internal therapy
-thermo-mineral sulphurous, chlorosodic, calcic, bromoiodinated waters (2-7 g/l), largely used for complex balneary treatment in both external and internal therapy
-sedative bio-climate, with a strong negative ionization of the air, proper to a 3,ooo m altitude
